4 Days Dazzling Oman

1. 1
   Giorno 1

   Muscat to Nizwa via Birkat Al Mauz

   Leave Muscat in the morning and drive towards Fanja, heading for Birkat Al Mauz, an oasis at the edge of the cliffs of the Jebel Akhdar mountain.

   Take a leisurely walk through the ancient village.

   Continue with a relaxing stroll through banana and date plantations.

   Reach the historic town of Nizwa in the evening and spend the first night of the tour there. Lunch and dinner are optional.

2. 2
   Giorno 2

   Nizwa, Jabrin and the Wahiba Sands

   Nizwa, the capital of the interior, is the birthplace of Islam in the Sultanate of Oman. It has the Round Tower Fort, built in the 17th century.

   Visit Nizwa Souq, known for its Friday cattle auction, hand-carved khanjars (daggers) and silver jewellery. Next to the souq is Nizwa Fort, now a museum, with views of the ancient town and the mountains around it.

   Go on to Jabrin, one of Oman's finest castles, built in the late 17th century and once a seat of Omani learning. It shows Omani ceiling painting at its best, with beautiful woodcarving.

   Continue to the Wahiba Sands, whose dunes support a wide variety of plants and animals, with ever-changing patterns that photographers love.

   You can ride camels or try dune driving, and visit a local Bedouin family at home to share coffee and dates and see their way of life.

   In the evening, enjoy a campfire and dinner, and spend the night in the Wahiba Sands. Lunch is optional.

3. 3
   Giorno 3

   Wadi Bani Khaled, Sur and Ras Al Hadd

   After breakfast, continue to Wadi Bani Khaled, one of the biggest wadis in Oman, for a refreshing swim in its cool water.

   Drive to Sur for a short city tour, then on to Ras Al Hadd, where you spend the night.

   After dinner, you are driven to the Ras Al Jinz turtle sanctuary, a protected green turtle nesting reserve.

   You may see sea turtles nest and lay eggs on the beach, and baby turtles hatching.

   Overnight in Ras Al Hadd. Lunch and dinner are optional.

4. 4
   Giorno 4

   Coast road back to Muscat via Wadi Shab

   After breakfast, leave for Sur, then drive along the coastal road.

   Continue to Wadi Tiwi and take the graded track to Wadi Shab, which flows with fresh water most of the year, alongside banana plantations and rocky paths.

   Go on to Fins, where a white sandy beach invites a relaxing swim.

   Stop for photos at the Bamah Sinkhole, then continue to Quriyat, a small fishing village on the coast, and on towards Muscat.

   Return to Muscat in the late afternoon. Lunch is optional.
