Muscat is the capital of Oman and the seat of its government. The city lies on the Arabian Sea, near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, in the northeast of the country.
Al Sharqiyah borders Muscat to the east, Al Batinah to the west and Ad Dakhiliyah to the south.
