Wadi Al Abyad lies in Nakhal, in the south of the Batinah region. Its name, Al Abyad, means white in Arabic and refers to the wadi's calcite rocks.

The wadi is easy to reach, about an hour from Muscat. In winter it turns into a series of pools where you can swim, and it offers nice trekking and adventurous dune bashing.

Short of time for a day trip to the Wahiba Sands? This tour still gives you the chance to go dune bashing, close to Muscat.

  1. Leave Muscat and pass by Barka, a small coastal town in the Batinah region in the north of Oman, known for its souks.

  2. Continue towards Nakhal, catching glimpses of traditional houses perched on jagged clifftops.

  3. After 15 km you reach Wadi Al Abyad, about an hour from Muscat.

  4. The wadi is easy to reach and gives you the chance of a nice trek.

  5. Then enjoy an adventurous dune bashing experience in this desert landscape, as your guide shows you his skill at driving the high sand dunes.

  6. Take memorable photos in this magnificent area.
